The Research Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (RIHSS), funded by Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), was established in January 2012. RIHSS’s goals are to support academic research, provide services to academic communities, cultivate junior scholars, and promote the development of the humanities and social sciences. In addition, RIHSS serves as a platform for facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration.
RIHSS is pleased to announce the new post-doctoral research fellows program starting in January 2022.
I. Eligibility: Taiwan nationals (Republic of China citizens), foreign nationals, and Hong Kong and Macao residents who have a doctoral degree in the humanities and social sciences, or prospective Ph. Ds who will pass an oral defense of the dissertation before the application deadline. All fields in humanities and social sciences are welcome. Future research interests concerning one of the following topics are in particular encouraged. “sustainable development and environment humanities”, “multiculturalism and social diversity”, “international political economy”, “social media, democracy, and national security”.
II. Available positions: At least one, and more if available.
III. Salary: Salary standards follow regulations from the Ministry of Science and Technology, around 55,000~63,000 TWD per month.
IV. Term Employment Period: Starts on January 1 to December 31, 2022. Please note that the payment calculation begins on the first day on which the appointee is on duty with personal presence.

1. Research and publish
2. Plan and organize academic events and help establish international collaboration networks
3. Assist and participate in RIHSS activities and events
4. Present one academic lecture in public
VII. Application period: From September 1 to September 30, 2021. The deadline is at 12 noon on September 30, 2021. All application documents should be submitted to complete the application prior to the deadline.

5. Full-text doctoral dissertation with Chinese and English abstracts, or the research monograph based on the revision of the dissertation. If the dissertation is not written in Chinese or English, please provide a synopsis in Chinese or English.
6. No more than three other publications (please merge into a single electronic file).

If candidates are prospective Ph. Ds whose Ph.D. diploma is not available at the time of application, a temporary academic certificate shall be submitted. After acceptance, an official Ph.D. diploma shall be provided before the formal beginning of the employment term.
1. If the candidates have earned their doctoral degrees in Taiwan, they shall submit a document verifying that the dissertation committee has approved their doctoral degree and a provisional academic record verification document containing a record of their oral examination session issued by their academic department.
2. If the candidates have earned their doctoral degrees abroad, they shall submit an English provisional academic record verification issued by their academic department to certify that they have passed their oral examination and dissertation review. A document written by advisors only is not accepted.
